Maintenance And Description
Conveyor Belt Storage, Handling & Maintenance Instructions
1.Conveyor belts should be kept clean during transportation and storage. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, rain, or snow. Keep the belts away from acids, alkalis, oils, organic solvents, and other corrosive substances, and maintain a distance of at least 1 meter (3.3 ft) from heat sources.
2.The recommended storage temperature is -18°C to 40°C, with a relative humidity between 50% and 80%.
3.During storage, conveyor belts should be stored in rolls and must not be folded. The rolls should be rotated at least once every three months to prevent deformation.
4.Conveyor belts of different types, specifications, or ply constructions should not be connected together. Vulcanized splicing is recommended for optimal performance.
5.The type, construction, specification, and number of plies of the conveyor belt should be selected according to the actual operating conditions and application requirements.
6.The recommended operating speed of the conveyor belt should not exceed 2.5 m/s. For large-sized or highly abrasive materials, fixed plow-type discharge devices and lower operating speeds are recommended.
7.The diameters of the drive pulley and bend pulley, as well as the trough angle of the idlers, should be properly matched with the conveyor belt construction in accordance with the conveyor system design specifications.
8.Materials should be fed in the same direction as the belt movement. To reduce impact on the belt, chutes should be used to minimize the material drop height. The carrying section should use reduced idler spacing and impact idlers. Soft and flexible skirt boards are recommended to prevent material leakage while avoiding damage to the belt surface.
9.During operation, observe the following maintenance guidelines:
- Keep all moving components properly lubricated, but prevent lubricants from contaminating the conveyor belt.
- Prevent idlers from becoming covered with material, which may restrict their rotation.
- Remove trapped material between the pulley and the belt to prevent damage.
- Avoid starting the conveyor while it is under full load.
- Correct any belt misalignment immediately to prevent excessive wear.
- Repair any local belt damage promptly to prevent further deterioration.
- Prevent the belt from contacting the conveyor frame, support structures, or sharp materials to avoid tearing, puncturing, or other mechanical damage.
